The USDA–NRCS has announced that farmers and landowners can apply NOW for FY25 grant funding. Contact your nearest NRCS office to inquire about grant programs and submit your application for FY25 funding by 11/15/24. Programs and funding vary depending on your location. The most relevant NRCS programs for Central California include:
- California USDA–NRCS EQIP Programs FY25
- NRCS Groundwater Recharge Pilot Program 10/24
- NRCS EQIP WaterSmart Initiatives 10/24 – Fresno & Madera Counties
How It Works:
NRCS works one-on-one with producers to develop a conservation plan that outlines conservation practices and activities to help solve on-farm resource issues. Producers implement practices and activities in their conservation plan that can lead to cleaner water and air, healthier soil and better wildlife habitat, all while improving their agricultural operations. EQIP helps producers make conservation work for them. Financial assistance for practices may be available through EQIP. Some producers may also qualify for advance payment.
Important Dates:
NRCS accepts producer applications for its conservation programs year-round, but producers interested in funding during the current fiscal year (FY25) should apply by their state’s ranking dates
- NRCS EQIP Application Deadline: 11/15/24
- NRCS EQIP Application Ranking Dates for California: 11/15/24-1/30/25
Although EQIP is most relevant for most, other NRCS and Farm Bill programs can also provide funding. Make sure you ask your local NRCS office about other applicable grant programs.
