After more than 30 years of dedicated service, Cal-West Rain is honored to announce the retirement of Susan Rathbun, effective December 31, 2020. Susan joined the company months after its founding in 1989 and worked behind the scenes supporting the Cal-West Rain sales team by providing irrigation system designs, project materials lists, project scheduling, and more to “keep the wheels moving and on track” for our many customers across Central California.
Susan is a graduate of Cal Poly with a BS degree in Soil Science and a respected member of the agricultural irrigation industry in California and across the nation. During her nearly forty years in the business, Susan was a member and President of the Irrigation Association’s Certification Board. Prior to joining Cal-West Rain in 1989, Susan also spent time working for Wren-Oneal Irrigation and Agri-Valley Irrigation.
Susan has many fond memories of her three decades at Cal-West Rain, but most important are the many friendships she formed over the years with her fellow employees. From project foremen to welders, machinists, sales reps, pump installers and more, she loved and will miss the people of Cal-West Rain.
Susan was married to Hugh Rathbun, her husband for 45 years until his passing in 2018. Together, Susan and Hugh raised two sons in Fresno, Christopher (San Diego, CA) and Michael (Portland, OR). In her retirement, Susan looks forward to visiting her sons and grandchildren in San Diego and Portland, as well as spending time at her second home in Hawaii.
As Susan embarks on her retirement, Cal-West Rain honors her legacy and sincerely thanks her for the many contributions she made since joining the company in 1989.
